A Human Mass?

Why?

Because contradiction and misunderstanding are the beauty of existence, collaboration is the only sanity. Science can only explore the repeatable, and religion is tied to preconceived answers beyond our experience. Art has the freedom to question and the freedom not to answer. All we have is each other and some time together. It's a conspiracy of us. Breathing together in the same place, diverse experiences exploring the chaos. The human experience - as alternately mundane or transcendent as it is.

How?

Beethoven's Missa Solemnis (a musical adaptation & simplification of the Catholic Mass) offers a well-worn and understood structure for exploring aspects of life that we all experience. Humility, Power, Mercy, Joy, Intellect, Argument, Relationship, Reconciliation and Community.

What?

A multi-media performance experience (we call it "theatre") exploring human experience through the structures and themes of the Mass (specifically Missa Solemnis). Drawing input from every source available, from science and religion to pop culture, personal experience, public record and recorded history.

The Structure:

  1. Kyrie
  2. Gloria
  3. Credo
  4. Sanctus
  5. Agnus Dei
